For 3 years I worked as a Brand Manager in beauty industry for Dove, Elseve and Maybelline. I was responsible for a range of tasks related to brand management, from business (market analysis and strategy development) to creation (development of campaigns and related activities).
After that time, I realized that marketing was not my ultimate career path, but that I really enjoyed many aspects of it. I decided to change my perspective from that of a consumer to that of a user and start working as a UX/UI designer.
What I took from my marketing career into UX:
- understanding how business decisions are made
- acceptance of fast and drastic changes
- appreciation for data and curiosity to find the cause-and-effect relationships
- interest in people and their behavior
- sensitivity to aesthetics
- ease of working in a team
